I go with Christ. And I don’t ask for anything in return. I go with Him not because it makes sense to the world or because it benefits me in any worldly way. I go with Him because I love Him.

This is the mystery at the center of Orthodox Christianity — a love for Christ that surpasses logic, calculation, or worldly gain. In true Christianity, there is no strategy, no metrics of success. There is only love. A love that clings to the Cross, that walks beside Christ through suffering, that stands steadfast even when the world mocks, doubts, and turns away.

True Love in Orthodox Christianity

Orthodox Christianity teaches that real love is not transactional. We do not follow Christ because He promises riches, fame, or comfort. We follow Him because we have encountered Him — the living God — and our hearts have been forever changed. This love is not born from proofs or arguments. It is born from a meeting with the truth.

In the Orthodox tradition, this encounter with Christ is not a one-time event. It is a life. A journey.

We walk with Him through the storms, through betrayal, through the silence of Holy Friday and the agony of Gethsemane. We stay not because it is easy, but because having tasted the love of Christ, we know there is nowhere else to go.

The World Does Not Understand

In today’s world, obsessed with validation, applause, and visible success, going with Christ often looks foolish.

Christianity is not about climbing the ladder of prestige or popularity. Orthodoxy reminds us that the road to the Resurrection always passes through the Cross. It is narrow. It is hard. And it is filled with mystery.

Those who have not tasted the love of Christ may ask:

  • Why do you fast?
  • Why do you pray?
  • Why do you forgive?
  • What do you gain?

But Orthodoxy knows: we don’t love Christ because of what He gives us. We love Him because of who He is.

Love Without Reason

When we walk with Christ, we start to see differently. We see the suffering of every human being around us. We are no longer indifferent to the pain of others. Christianity opens our hearts and widens our vision.

Orthodox spirituality teaches that love must be without condition. We do not love only the lovable. We do not serve only when it is easy. We love because Christ loved us first.

We serve because He served.

We forgive because He forgave.

The Irresistible Truth

Once a soul has truly seen the beauty of Christ’s love, it can never again be satisfied with anything less. No ideology, no worldly success, no passing pleasure can replace it. Christianity is not simply a belief system — it is a burning relationship with the living God.

Orthodoxy preserves this truth with profound reverence.

Through the Divine Liturgy, the prayers, the icons, and the lives of the saints, the Orthodox Church keeps alive the memory of this encounter: that Christ is not an idea, but a Person, risen and real.

Why I Go With Christ

No, I don’t walk with Christ because it is easy. In fact, sometimes it is the hardest path. But it is the true path. It is the path that leads through death to life, through darkness to light, through sorrow to unspeakable joy.

Orthodox Christianity teaches us that to lose everything for Christ is to gain everything. That to die with Christ is to live forever. That to suffer with Him is to reign with Him.

I go with Christ because somewhere deep inside, beyond fear, beyond logic, beyond doubt, I have seen the truth of His love. And once you have seen it, you cannot unsee it. You can never again be satisfied with the temporary, the shallow, or the false.

This is the heart of Christianity. This is the call of Orthodoxy.

Come. Walk with Christ. Love Him. Lose yourself — and find your soul.
